On March 3, 2016 at about 6:08 PM, the Juneau Police Department received a 9-1-1 call reporting an unresponsive male lying on the sidewalk of the 200 block of Seward St.
Capital City Fire and Rescue paramedics were dispatched and upon arrival began live saving measures to resuscitate the male. Paramedics continued to work on the male for about 30 minutes and were unable to revive him, pronouncing him deceased at about 6:54 PM.
The male was identified as 73 year old Joseph McDonagh Burke. Next of kin was notified. The body will be flown to Anchorage for an autopsy per the State Medical Examiner?s Office. The death appears to be the result of natural causes.
