INFORMATION RELEASE
Date: 2015-12-12
From: Sgt. Brian Dallas
Case or Incident: #151211-005
On December 11, 2015, at about 9:03 am, the Juneau Police Department received a report of a motor vehicle crash in the intersection of Egan Drive at Vanderbilt Hill Rd. Capital City Fire/Rescue along with officers from JPD responded.
Investigation revealed that a 2001 Dodge Caravan operated by an 18 year old male rear-ended a 1987 Nissan truck. The force of the Dodge striking the Nissan truck was great enough to push the Nissan forward into the rear-end of a 2001 Chevrolet truck stopped for a red light at the intersection.
The drivers of the Nissan and Chevrolet were transported by ambulance to Bartlett Regional Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. All three vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
Environmental factors contributed to the crash. The driver of the Dodge was cited for Failure to Use Due Caution.
Portions of Egan Drive were closed for about 55 minutes during the crash.
