On 11-16-2015 at 5:10 PM, Juneau Police received multiple reports of a vehicle collision on Egan Drive at the Fred Meyer access. Additional callers reported a second collision involving one of the same vehicles near the entrance to Fred Meyer. Police responded, and the investigation revealed a 2000 GMC pickup which was traveling from Egan Drive to the access road struck a 1997 Jeep Wrangler, which was traveling outbound on Egan Drive. The driver of the GMC then attempted to pull into the Fred Meyer parking lot in the damaged pickup. In doing so, the truck struck a 2015 Buick sedan near the Fred Meyer entrance.
Damage to all of the vehicles exceeded $10,000. There were no serious injuries. The driver of the GMC, 43 year-old Donna F. Page, was cited for careless driving. The investigation into the collision is continuing, and more citations may be forthcoming. Alcohol was not a factor in this incident. Traffic on Egan Drive was disrupted for about 45 minutes.
