Subject: Plane Crash

Summary:

On 07/17/2015, at approximately 1:26 PM, the Juneau Police Department received a 911 call from a person reporting that they had just been involved in a plane crash. The caller reported that they had been in route from Juneau to Hoonah. JPD Dispatch contacted Wings of Alaska and confirmed that one of their planes was missing. The name of the 911 caller matched the name of one of the people listed on the missing plane. The plane was occupied by the pilot and four passengers, for a total of 5 people on board. The condition of all five passengers is unknown.

The United States Coast Guard and the Alaska State Troopers were notified. The USCG sent a helicopter from Sitka to look for the missing plane. AST, the SeaDogs, Juneau Mountain Rescue, Capital City Fire Rescue, and other private air carriers are staging in the area until the plane is be located.

All search and rescue operations fall under the authority of the Alaska State Troopers. Any further questions or updates should be referred to AST.
