***UPDATE***

On 07-19-2015 at 7:10 PM, Juneau Police located 32 year-old Derick Nathaniel Skultka in the 6590 block of Glacier Highway. Skultka was wanted on a total of three felony warrants. The charges of these arrest warrants included violating his felony probation, Burglary in the First Degree and Assault in the Fourth Degree, and Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree.

After a brief foot chase, Skultka was apprehended and arrested. He was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center without bail.

Skultka remains a suspect in several open Juneau Police Department cases, in which the investigation is continuing.

Summary:

32 year old Derick Nathaniel Skultka of Juneau is on the run from law enforcement with three warrants out of his arrest. Yesterday, July 13, 2015, Skultka left a trail of dangerous and reckless behavior and damaged property all while evading arrest. The Juneau Police Department is asking for the public?s help in finding Skultka before he or someone else in injured.

The warrants for Skultka have been trickling in all spring. There is a no bail warrant for failure to appear for adjudication on an original charge of burglary and assault in the 4th degree. That warrant came out in mid-February. March brought a $20,000 warrant for failure to appear on a request for probation revocation associated with the same burglary and assault case. June brought a $10,000 warrant for a drug charge, misconduct involving drugs in the 4th degree, a C felony.

Yesterday at about 10:00 a.m. a JPD officer saw a vehicle in Douglas traveling 63 mph in a 40 mph zone. The officer recognized the vehicle as associated with Skultka, whom the officer knew did not have a driver?s license in addition to having multiple warrants. When the officer initiated a traffic stop, Skultka ran from the officer in the area of Nowell Avenue, cutting through the brush between homes. Additional officers responded to the area but Skultka was not located.

Six hours later, Skultka was driving Egan inbound near McDonalds when he crashed for no apparent reason. The vehicle came to rest almost in the McDonald?s drive-through. Skultka?s passenger, who owns the vehicle and a known associate of Skultka, reported that she was injured. Capital City Fire and Rescue responded to treat her. The woman lives in Switzer Village and Skultka may be frequenting that area.

Skultka potentially faces additional charges for driving offenses, including failure to stop at the direction of a peace officer and leaving the scene of an accident.

Anyone is information about Skultka is asked to contact JPD at 586-0600.
