On May 29, 2015, at about 5:09 PM, the Juneau Police Department received a report of a 3 car motor vehicle collision in the 11000 block of Glacier Hwy. Capital City Fire/Rescue (CCFR), JPD Officers, and a USFS officer responded.
The investigation revealed that 2 vehicles were stopped in the inbound lane of Glacier Hwy, waiting for a vehicle to turn into a parking lot. A 3rd vehicle, operated by a 50 year female resident of Juneau, did not see the stopped vehicles in time and struck both stopped vehicles. All three vehicles were inoperable and had to be towed from the scene. Two of the vehicles were estimated to be total losses.
One driver, a 69 YO male resident of Juneau, was examined on scene by medics. The 50 year old driver was transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital for evaluation and later cited for Failing to Maintain a Safe Distance.
The roadway was restricted to one lane of travel for about 60 minutes during rush hour traffic.
