The Juneau Police Department will be increasing the number of officers working for the upcoming holiday weekend. May 23 ? 25, 2015, is the Memorial Day weekend, as well as graduation weekend for Juneau?s three high schools.
The extra JPD officers will be working throughout the weekend, with an emphasis placed on enforcement activities on the road system that lies outside of the core population centers. Enforcement will focus on impaired driving, minors consuming alcohol, reckless driving, and public disorder offenses. Additionally, officers will be present at all three high school graduation ceremonies.
JPD?s Mobile Incident Command (MIC) vehicle will be stationed on the road system near Eagle Beach. The MIC will be staffed 24 hours a day and will act as a substation for activities taking place out the road.
The Juneau Police Department hopes everyone has a safe Memorial Day/Graduation weekend.
