On 05/07/2015, at approximately 1:21 PM, the Riverbend Elementary School received a threatening phone call and the principle initiated a stay put order.
Juneau Police Department officers responded and found no incident at the school. The school was search by officers and school staff and everything was fine. The school then returned to normal activities.
This is the fourth threatening phone call received by a Juneau school in the past six days. All of the threats received were from a computer or electronic sounding voice. While the messages were not identical, all the threats pertained to a school shooting. All of the threats were of generic violence and no specific school or person was named.
The Juneau Police Department and Juneau School District takes every school threat seriously. Each threat is investigated as a standalone incident, but all the threats are being reviewed by a JPD detective. JPD is also working cooperatively on these incidents with the Alaska State Troopers and Federal Authorities.
The investigation is continuing.
