On 4/21/15 at about 2017 hours, the Juneau Police Department (JPD) received a report of two males fighting in front of a residence in the 6590 block of Glacier Hwy.
At about 2021 hours, JPD received an additional report that one of the males had been stabbed.
JPD Officers and Capital City Fire and Rescue (CCFR) responded to the area and contacted both males at separate locations.
One male, who had a stab wound to his abdomen, was transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital by CCFR where he is currently receiving treatment for his injuries. His condition is reported as stable.
The other male, who was identified as 42 year old Juneau resident, William Childress Jr, was detained.
Investigation revealed that the two men were acquaintances and were walking together when they began to fight. During the course of the fight, Childress allegedly stabbed the victim in the abdomen.
As part of the investigation, a section of 6590 Glacier Hwy was shut down for about an hour to protect the crime scene.
Childress was ultimately arrested for one count of Assault 3rd Degree for recklessly causing physical injury to another person by means of a dangerous instrument.
