INFORMATION RELEASE
Date: 2015-04-06
From: Lt. Kris Sell
Case or Incident: #2015-010658/2015-012149
On March 21, 2015, at about 7:00 p.m. a fire was reported in the unoccupied Gastineau Apartments on Franklin Street. JPD is looking for information about anyone who might have been involved with starting that fire. A damage estimate is not being provided as the building had previously been determined to be a total loss after a prior, much larger fire. The fire from the 21st did cause concern about potential damage to surrounding buildings and investigators are taking the matter seriously.
JPD is also looking for information about the fire near Aurora Harbor that took place on March 31, 2015 at about 8:30 p.m.. That fire did $250,000 worth of damage to Harri Industrial Marine property.
Anyone with information is encouraged to log on to the Juneau Crime Line Web site and report their tip. You may also call JPD at 586-0600. You may be eligible for a reward.
