On 04/02/2015, at approximately 1:40 PM, the Juneau Police Department was contacted by Alaska Airlines reference a passenger being caught on board flight 64 in the bathroom smoking a cigarette. The plane was parked on the tarmac and the male was asked to leave the plane.
Two JPD officers contacted the man outside the plane on the tarmac. The man refused to identify himself and ran away from the officers. The officers chased the man along the tarmac and caught him after a short foot pursuit. The man began fighting with the officers and he was eventually taken into custody after being threatened with a taser. The taser was not used on the man. The man was identified as 55 year old David Allen Cimino from Idaho.
During the fight, Cimino received several minor abrasions to his head. One JPD officer received an injury to his right hand. The other JPD officer received an injury to her left wrist, and a bite on her left cheek. Cimino and both JPD officers were transported to the Bartlett Regional Hospital and treated for their injuries.
Cimino was arrested for two counts of Assault on a Peace Officer, two counts of Criminal Mischief, and one count of Resisting Arrest. Cimino was transported to and lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center and held on $2,000 bail.
