Summary:

On February 11, 2015 at about 1040 pm, the Juneau Police Department (JPD) and Capital City Fire and Rescue (CCFR) responded to the 9100 Block of Glacier Highway regarding an assault. Two witnesses reported to JPD that they saw a man beating another man on a sidewalk in the 9100 Block.

Officers and medics arrived on scene and found a 54 year old Juneau resident lying unconscious, unresponsive, and bleeding heavily from several head wounds. CCFR medics transported the victim to Bartlett Hospital for treatment.

The suspect Mark Brown, a 48 year old Juneau resident, was located lying nearby. Brown was uninjured but was verbally hostile and threatening to medics and Officers. He was significantly impaired by alcohol. Brown was taken into custody by Officers and transported to Bartlett Hospital for evaluation. After brief evaluation at BRH, Brown was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center for the charge of Assault 2nd Degree.

No weapons were located and the reason for the assault is not yet known. The 54 year old victim was listed in critical care and was later medevac?d out of Juneau for further treatment. The investigation is ongoing.
