On January 12, 2015, at 4:19 in the afternoon, the Juneau Police Department received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Egan Drive at the Fred Meyer access.
The investigation revealed a 1979 black Mazda RX7 was turning from Egan Drive in bound toward Fred Meyer. A 2014 silver Toyota was traveling out bound and the Mazda struck the Toyota head on. Neither of the drivers was injured and both declined medical treatment.
The outbound lanes of Egan Drive were closed for a period of 35 minutes while the investigation took place. Once the vehicles were moved from the road, traffic operation resumed to normal.
The driver of the Mazda was cited for failing to yield while turning left and failing to maintain insurance.
The investigation is continuing.
