Over a period of 7 days, JPD received multiple reports of Robert H. Meireis violating conditions of release stemming from a domestic violence crime. Officers investigated the incidents and filed charges with the City Attorney?s office for Unlawful Contact 1st Degree, Domestic Violence Assault 4th Degree and Criminal Mischief.
On January 6th, 2015 at about 2:30 pm, an arrest warrant to Answer to the Charge of DV Assault, a warrant to Answer to the Charge of Violating Conditions of Release and a summons to Answer to Charge of Assault were issued for Meireis. Officers made contact with Meireis about 45 minutes later at the Bergman Hotel.
Meireis talked to officers through the door of the hotel room for several minutes but he refused to open the door. Officers then heard Meireis leave the 2nd story room via a window. Officers entered the room and saw that Meireis was outside and fleeing on foot.
Officers conducted a short foot pursuit and were able to detain and arrest Meireis on Fourth Street. He was arrested for both warrants, transported to and lodged at LCCC.
