INFORMATION RELEASE

Subject: Motor vehicle collision with pedestrian

Summary:

JPD received a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle in the 4500 block of North Douglas Highway.

Officer's arrived at the scene and contacted the pedestrian, a 33 year old female. The female had injuries due to being struck by a vehicle. EMS arrived and transported the female to the Bartlett Regional Hospital (BRH) for a medical evaluation.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian was also at the scene. The driver was identified as a 52 year old male. Neither the driver, nor his 49 year old female passenger was injured.

Following an investigation, the driver was placed under arrest for DUI and transported to JPD for further DUI processing. The driver was later taken to the BRH for an independent test of his level of intoxication. The driver was then released. Charges are pending against the driver for DUI.

The pedestrian was treated for her injuries at BRH. The injuries appeared to be non-life threatening.

Alcohol appeared to be a factor with the driver and the pedestrian.

The investigation is ongoing.
