The 2014 ?Spot the Chief for a Ten Spot? campaign started off with a special visit on Tuesday, June 10th. JPD Chief Bryce Johnson presented a new bike helmet to a 7 year old girl named Fernanda Diaz, who was involved in a bicycling accident on June 6th. During the collision Diaz was not wearing a helmet, as she had lost it before the accident. Luckily, Diaz only received minor injuries.
In an effort to remind motorists to watch for bicyclists, the Juneau Police Department, the Capital City Chapter of the Alaska Peace Officers Association and Cycle Alaska are joining together for the 2014 ?Spot the Chief for a Ten Spot? campaign, which will run from June 9th through June 20th.
If you see Chief Johnson riding a bike around town while wearing a white and red spotted shirt, call the chief?s assistant at 500-0674 and speak to her or leave a message. Only the first ten correct callers each day will be awarded the ten dollar prize. Please call when you are not driving, but within two hours. Give the time and place you saw Chief Johnson along with your name, phone number and license plate. Only the driver is eligible to win the ten dollars. If you are one of the first ten correct callers each day, you will be notified and you can pick up your ?Ten Spot? prize from the front desk of JPD during business hours.
