INFORMATION RELEASE
Date: 2014-05-30
From: Sergeant Krag Campbell
Case or Incident: #140530-011
On 05-30-14, between the times of about 2:26 PM and about 3:17 PM, the Juneau Police Department responded to three separate motor vehicle collisions in the 7000 block of Egan Drive, near the construction zone.
All three collisions resulted in minor damages, and all the vehicles were driven from the scenes. There were no reported injuries at the time.
Traffic on Egan Drive was slowed for about an hour while the motor vehicle collisions were investigated.
During one of the collisions, it was reported that a dark colored Jeep had struck another vehicle and then fled the area by crossing into the inbound lane of Egan Drive. The Jeep was described by witnesses as being dark colored, possibly maroon. Debris from the Jeep was found on the ground at the crash site, and it appears to have come from a late model Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Based on the debris left at the scene, the Jeep had sustained damages to the front grill and possibly headlights, and was leaking transmission fluid.
If anyone has information regarding the identification of the Jeep, please contact the Juneau Police Department.
