Subject: Misconduct Controlled Substances Arrest

Summary:

On 02/26/2014, a package containing controlled substances was intercepted in the U.S. Mail that was heading to Juneau. The package contained approximately 8 ounces of heroin and 8 ounces of methamphetamine. The street value of the intercepted drugs was estimated at approximately $290,000.

On 02/27/2014, at approximately 12:00 PM, the package was delivered to a residence located in the 8400 block of Thunder Mountain Road. Within minutes of the package being delivered the male who accepted the package attempted to leave and was detained by waiting JPD SWAT officers. The male who accepted the package was identified as 27 year old Juneau resident Benjamin David Reierson.

Officers entered the residence and contacted an 18 year old Juneau female resident. The package was retrieved and the residence was searched pursuant to a search warrant.

Benjamin David Reierson was arrested for Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the 2nd Degree a Class A Felony, and Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree a Class B Felony. Reierson was transported to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center and held on No Bail.

The investigation continues.
