On 11-15-13 at 4:54pm, The Juneau Police Department received a report of a multiple vehicle crash on Egan Drive near Fred Meyer. Police and Capital City Fire & Rescue responded.
Upon arrival, officers discovered four vehicles that were involved in the collision. Investigation revealed that a 1994 Subaru driven by a 64 year old man made a left turn from Egan Drive toward Fred Meyer across the outbound lanes in front of a 2002 Volkswagen. The Volkswagen struck the Subaru. A 2014 Subaru and a 1989 Honda following the Volkswagen outbound were unable to avoid the crash and collided with the other vehicles. Both Subaru?s and the Volkswagen were totaled and towed from the scene. The Honda sustained minor damage and was driven away. The driver of the 1994 Subaru and the driver of the Volkswagen were transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital by ambulance for treatment of what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
The outbound lanes of Egan Drive were closed for about 40 minutes during investigation of the crash.
Investigation into the crash is continuing. Citations are pending.
