On 10/27/2013, at approximately 8:26 PM, the Juneau Police Department received a report of a domestic assault. In essence, a 24 year old Juneau female resident reported that she had been assaulted by 59 year old Juneau resident Daniel J. Cashen. The assault reportedly took place at a residence located in the 6200 block of Alaway Avenue.
Juneau Police officers contacted the female victim at a residence in the Mendenhall Valley. The female victim reported that she picked up Cashen from the downtown area and drove him to the Alaway Avenue residence. The female victim said the once inside the residence she was threatened, bit, and repeatedly hit. The female victim also reported being six months pregnant.
Capital City Fire and Rescue personnel arrived and transported the female victim to the Bartlett Regional Hospital (BRH) for treatment of minor visible injuries. Due to her pregnancy she was also kept at BRH for observation.
JPD officers obtained a search warrant for the Alaway Avenue residence. At approximately 10:20 PM, the search warrant was served and JPD officers entered the residence. Cashen was located in a bedroom and detained.
Cashen was arrested for Domestic Assault. He was transported to BRH and then to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center where he was held on no bail.
The investigation continues.
