On 10-5-2013 at 7:08 PM, a caller reported a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Mendenhall Loop Road and Back Loop Road. Juneau Police responded and found a 2000 Dodge Dakota pickup truck, which struck a man as he crossed the Mendenhall Loop Road. The man, a 25 year-old local resident, was transported to the Bartlett Regional Hospital for treatment of apparently life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Dodge, a 25 year-old man, was uninjured. Damage to the Dodge was minimal.
The intersection was closed for more than an hour during the investigation at the scene. Traffic was diverted to Back Loop Road from Glacier Spur, and Loop Road traffic was diverted back toward the direction of Mendenhall Boulevard from Grant Street.
The investigation in this incident is continuing.
