On 09/12/2013, a suspicious package was intercepted by the United States Postal Service. The package was being shipped to Juneau from Inglewood, Ca.
United States Postal Inspectors obtained a search warrant and opened the package. Hidden inside the package was approximately 112 grams of a substance that field tested positive as methamphetamine, and approximately 25.7 grams of a substance that field tested positive as heroin. At current street prices in Juneau the methamphetamine had an estimated street value of $44,800 and the heroin had an estimated street value of $25,700.
On 09/16/2013, United States Postal Inspectors and members of the Juneau Police Department Metro Drug Unit conducted a controlled delivery of the package. The majority of the controlled substances had been removed from the package, but a representative sample of each drug had been left inside.
On 09/16/2013, at approximately 4:15 PM, the package was delivered to 29 year old Clinton Russell KONRAD, and a 23 year old female Juneau resident. KONRAD drove from the area and met with 29 year old Patrick Hal ILER.
On 09/16/2013, at approximately 4:35 PM, officers conducted traffic stops on vehicles being operated by KONRAD and ILER. Both males and the 23 year old female were detained. The package was recovered from KONRAD?s vehicle pursuant to a search warrant. ILER was found to be in possession of 1.2 grams of a substance that field tested positive as methamphetamine.
Clinton KONRAD was arrested for Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the 2nd Degree a Class A Felony, and Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree a Class B Felony.
Patrick ILER was arrested for Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the 4th Degree a Class C Felony, and Driving While License Cancelled a Class A Misdemeanor.
Both KONRAD and ILER was transported to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center and held on No Bail. The 23 year old female was released.
