Case or Incident: #130914-005
On 09/14/2013, at approximately 11:45 AM, the Juneau Police Department received a report from a resident of the Churchill Trailer Park that someone had just shot their trailer. Officers responded to the area and determined that the trailer, located in the 5900 block of Churchill Way, had been shot once by a small caliber bullet. The investigation revealed that the shot had come from a neighboring trailer.
At the neighboring trailer where the shooting occurred, JPD officers contacted a 42 year old male Juneau resident. The investigation revealed that 35 year old female Juneau resident Corena WILLARD was a person of interest in the shooting. WILLARD had left the trailer before officers arrived, but she was later contacted walking down the street. The investigation revealed that three shots had been fired inside the trailer and no one was injured during the shooting.
Corena WILLARD was arrested on an outstanding $250 JPD warrant for Failure to Appear for Arraignments, on an original charge of Larceny. WILLARD was transported to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center and lodged on the warrant.
JPD officers obtained a search warrant to search the trailer where the shooting had occurred. Officers seized three firearms, as well as multiple tools that had previously been reported as stolen.
Consumption of illegal controlled substances appears to be a contributing factor to this incident.
The investigation is continuing.
