INFORMATION RELEASE

Subject: MVC- Injury
Date: 2013-05-28
From: Sgt. Gifford
Case or Incident: #130528-001
Summary:

On May 28, 2013 at 4:37 AM, Juneau Police received a report of a motor vehicle crash in the vicinity of Loop Road and Egan Drive. Upon arrival, officers found a 2010 Chevrolet pickup and a 1994 Nissan van which had collided in the Loop and Egan intersection. Investigation revealed the Nissan, which was traveling on Loop Road in the direction of the glacier, failed to stop for a red light and struck the Chevrolet, which was traveling on Egan toward Auke Bay.

The occupants of the van, including an 8 year-old boy and 9 year-old girl, were transported to the Bartlett Regional Hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries. The driver, 36 year-old Sitka resident Heather Goss, was cited for failing to stop at the red light.

The driver of the Chevrolet, a 62 year-old North Pole resident, was also transported to the Bartlett Regional Hospital for treatment of apparently non life-threatening injuries.

Both vehicles were totaled.

All factual allegations contained in this release are based upon preliminary investigation and are subject to change or clarification as the investigation continues. Any charges reported in this release are merely accusations and all persons named in this release are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
