On Tuesday, April 23rd at 2:30 AM, Juneau Police received a report of a possible burglary in progress at 240 Main Street, the Court Plaza Building. Arriving officers found a glass door which had been shattered, and it appeared entry had been gained into the building. The security officer reporting the crime reviewed surveillance video footage of the area, which revealed a person entering the building, but did not show anyone coming out.
JPD officers entered the building and located a man sleeping in a hallway, where he was taken into custody. Further investigation revealed damage to a water fountain inside of the building.
The man, 36 year-old Nicholas Riethmann, a citizen of France, was arrested and lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center on one count of Burglary in the Second Degree, and one count of Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree. Both are class C felonies. He was held without bail. Alcohol was a factor in this incident.
