On Saturday, April 20th at 2:15 PM, the Juneau Police Department responded to Glacier Highway at the Auke Rec area, for a man with a gunshot wound to his head. Capital City Fire and Rescue personnel were already in the area in response to a grass fire, when the man was discovered in his vehicle parked on a pullout along the highway. The man, a 34 year-old local resident, was transported to the Bartlett Regional Hospital with an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was later declared deceased. Next of kin have been notified and foul play is not suspected in this incident.
