On April 10, 2013, officers of the Juneau Police Department working with federal officers arrested two individuals for transporting controlled substances into Juneau. 22 year old Katrina Costello and 29 year old Orion Seal, both of Juneau have been charged with two counts each of misconduct involving a controlled substance in the second degree. This charge is a class A felony punishable by up to twenty years incarceration and a fine of up to $250,000.
During the investigation Costello was found to be transporting 61 grams of what is believed to be heroin, 30 oxycondone pills, 15 grams of hashish, and nine strips of suboxone which is taken by dissolving the strips on the tongue.
Seal was not found with drugs on him but the investigation shows he arranged for the importation and was using Costello as a 'mule'. Seal was arrested when he arrived at the airport to pick up Costello.
