INFORMATION RELEASE

Subject: Motor Vehicle Crash
Date: 2013-03-31
From: Sgt. Dallas
Case or Incident: #130330-007
Summary:

On March 30, 2013 at about 6:23PM, the Juneau Police Department received multiple reports of a ?head on? vehicle collision involving two vehicles in the area of the Alaska Veteran?s Memorial Highway and the ferry terminal. Officers and members of Capital City Fire & Rescue responded and located a two vehicle crash blocking the southbound lane of the highway adjacent to the ferry terminal.

Investigation revealed that a 2001 Toyota Matrix operated by 49 year old Juneau resident Kimberly Sellers was turning into the ferry terminal from the northbound left turn lane when it was struck by a 2001 Toyota Rav 4 that was traveling in the southbound lane and was operated by 39 year old Juneau resident Antonia Leonard.

Both drivers along with 2 juvenile passengers from the Toyota Rav 4 were transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Both vehicles were considered totaled due to the extensive front end damage each vehicle sustained.

Investigation continues into the cause of the collision. Alcohol is not considered to be a factor of the investigation.

All factual allegations contained in this release are based upon preliminary investigation and are subject to change or clarification as the investigation continues. Any charges reported in this release are merely accusations and all persons named in this release are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
