On February 16th, 2013 at 10:30PM, an off-duty Juneau Police Department officer saw a 26 year-old local male inside of a department store in the 6000 block of Glacier Highway. The man was known to be wanted on violations of his parole and felony escape. Officers responded and contacted the man inside of the store, when he fled toward the rear of the building.
A foot chase ensued, before the man was taken into custody near the entrance of the store. Police subdued the man by use of the Taser, as well as assistance from a staff member of the business. The man, Justin BROKKEN, was taken into custody on two outstanding arrest warrants: a no-bail warrant charging a violation of his parole on a conviction of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the 2nd Degree, and an arrest warrant charging Escape in the Second Degree.
BROKKEN was evaluated by Capital City Fire and Rescue at the scene, then taken to and lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center. He was additionally charged with Escape in the Fourth Degree. He was held without bail.
