On 01-24-2013 at 9:45 PM, the Juneau Police Department received a report of a nude male in traffic on Egan Drive in the area of the Sunny Point overpass. Officers responded to the area and located no one. At 10:10 PM, JPD received a second call from a person stating she had witnessed a traffic collision involving a nude man in the same vicinity on Egan Drive. Another caller from the 9000 block of North Douglas Highway, called JPD at 10:30 PM. This caller reported a nude man on her doorstep. The woman reported the man was injured, and told her he had been struck by a vehicle and was in need of medical attention. Capital City Fire and Rescue responded with JPD, and the man was transported to the Bartlett Regional Hospital for the treatment of apparently non life-threatening injuries.
Officers located what appeared to be the scene of a traffic collision on Egan Drive at the Sunny Point overpass. A scene investigation was conducted and numerous articles of evidence were located and collected.
The man was later determined to be a 28 year-old local resident. It appears that after the man was struck by the vehicle, he continued on foot through the wetlands and the Gastineau Channel to the residence on North Douglas Highway. He was not believed to be intoxicated.
