INFORMATION RELEASE

Subject: Failure to Stop, DUI
Date: 2013-01-06
From: Sgt. Chris Gifford
Case or Incident: #130106-002
Summary:

On 01-06-2013 at 0252 hours, the Juneau Police Department received a report of an erratic driver on Egan Drive in the area of Channel Vista. The caller reported the vehicle almost struck her car, before braking and stopping in the middle of Egan Drive. A JPD officer located and attempted to stop the vehicle, a 2002 Chevrolet Blazer, in the area of Fred Meyer. The Blazer continued traveling on Egan Drive to Mendenhall Loop Road as the officers? patrol vehicle followed with its lights and sirens activated.

The Blazer continued to the Mendenhaven area, where it drove through a stop sign without stopping, and began traveling at a faster speed. The officer discontinued the pursuit at that point. A short time later, the vehicle was found in the yard of a residence on Birch Lane. Officers began an investigation which included gathering evidence near the vehicle and interviewing witnesses. Officers located the residence of the Blazer?s registered owner, and within minutes, contacted the man approaching the residence on foot. The man, 29 year-old Patrick CARRILLO, was subsequently arrested for Failure to Stop at the Direction of a Peace Officer in the First Degree, and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. He was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center without bail.

All factual allegations contained in this release are based upon preliminary investigation and are subject to change or clarification as the investigation continues. Any charges reported in this release are merely accusations and all persons named in this release are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
