On 11/10/2012, at approximately 1:26 PM, a 37 year old Juneau female resident reported that she had been sexually assaulted. The incident occurred earlier in the day in the woods uphill from the downtown Juneau cruise ship docks. The female victim was taken to the Bartlett Regional Hospital for evaluation and treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The victim identified her assailant as 21 year old Juneau resident Kevin Arnold SLATS. SLATS was located in the downtown area and interviewed. A search warrant was obtained and SLATS was taken to BRH for evidence gathering pursuant to the search warrant.
JPD officers located the area of the alleged assault and processed the area for evidence.
On 11/10/2012, at approximately 6:00 PM, SLATS was arrested for Sexual Assault in the 1st Degree, an Unclassified Felony. SLATS was transported to and lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center and held on No Bail.
The victim and SLATS were acquaintances prior to the assault. Alcohol appears to be a factor in this incident.
The investigation is continuing.
