On September 27, 2012 at about 820pm, the Juneau Police Department received a report of a vehicle fire at an apartment complex in the 2000 Block of Postal Way. Capital City Fire and Rescue were dispatched and responded to the scene. CCFR put out a fire that was contained inside the vehicle. CCFR Fire Marshall?s also arrived on scene to investigate the fire and determined the fire was likely attributed to arson. Juneau Police Officers were summoned to assist in the investigation.
Through investigation ownership of the vehicle was determined and contact was made with the family. During the interviews with the family it was discovered that a possible suspect in the arson was 42 year old Juneau resident Douglas SLINGLUFF. Further investigative leads developed by JPD and Fire Marshall?s revealed that SLINGLUFF purchased items used to start the fire shortly before the fire was discovered.
On September 28, 2012 at about 415pm, SLINGLUFF was interviewed and arrested for Arson 3rd Degree a Class C Felony and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree also a Class C Felony. SLINGLUFF was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center with standard No Bail Conditions.
