On September 20, 2012 at about 9:10 AM, the Juneau Police Department received a report from a 16 year old that a man kicked him and stole his backpack. The incident occurred near the 9000 block of Glacier Highway.
Minutes later, a JPD officer located the suspect on Mallard Street still in possession of the stolen backpack. The suspect was identified as 55 year old Juneau resident Larry Alan REIGER. REIGER fought with officers and was ultimately taken into custody after being tasered. During the arrest one JPD officer received a minor injury to his left forearm that did not require medical attention.
REIGER was arrested on charges of Robbery in the 2nd Degree, a class B felony, Theft in the 3rd Degree, a class A misdemeanor, and Assault on a Police Officer in the 4th Degree also a class A misdemeanor. REIGER was transported the Bartlett Regional Hospital for evaluation, and then to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center and where he was held on No Bail.
