On 08-15-2012 at 7:35 PM, the Juneau Police Department received multiple reports of a single-vehicle rollover accident near the intersection of Mendenhall Loop Road and Mall Road. Additional reports indicated the vehicle had left the scene immediately following the accident. Arriving officers located an upside-down pickup canopy in the middle of Loop Road, as well as evidence of significant damage from a Nissan vehicle. Witnesses were able to provide a vehicle description and a license plate of the vehicle, which was registered to a 1999 Nissan pickup.
Officers located the vehicle at a residence on James Boulevard. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $2000. Investigation revealed the Nissan had been driven by 22 year-old local resident Kate ITEN. ITEN was cited for Negligent Driving and failing to give Immediate Notice of an Accident. Alcohol was a factor in this incident.
