On 07/05/2012, a suspicious package heading to Juneau was intercepted by a United States Postal Inspector. The package was seized and a search warrant was issued to open the package. The package was found to contain approximately six ounces of methamphetamine. The package was turned over to the Juneau Police Department Drug Enforcement Unit.
On 07/07/2012, the package without the drugs was picked up and delivered to a residence located at the 9400 block of Moraine Way. At approximately 2215 hours, 43 year old Juneau resident Darrell DAWSON came to the residence on Moraine Way and retrieved the package. DAWSON was contacted by Juneau Police officers and found to be in possession of a baggie that contained a substance that field tested positive as methamphetamine. The net weight of the baggie was approximately 4.8 grams. DAWSON was placed under arrest for Misconduct Involving Controlled Substances in the 3rd and 4th Degree. DAWSON was ultimately transported to and lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center and held on no bail.
On 07/08/2012, at approximately 0005 hours, officers executed a search warrant at DAWSON?s shop located at the 300 block of Village Street. Four people were contacted inside the shop. 24 year old Juneau resident Nicholas DETEMPLE was found to be in possession of a pair of metal knuckles, a prohibited weapon. DETEMPLE was placed under arrest for Misconduct Involving Weapons in the 4th Degree. DETEMPLE was ultimately transported to and lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center and held on $500 bail.
Agencies associated with these arrests included the Juneau Police Department, Alaska State Troopers, Federal Bureau of Investigations, United Stated Postal Inspectors, United States Coast Guard Investigative Service, and Southeast Alaska Chiefs Against Drugs.
The investigation is continuing.
