On May 5, 2012 the Juneau Police Department presented Employee Recognition Awards for 2011. Each year the department recognizes employees who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to provide excellent service to their co-workers and the community. This year the Chief had the pleasure of awarding several merit awards in addition to employee of the year awards. Those recognized and the awards given are as follows.
Civilian Employee of the Year - Jennifer Adams
Dispatcher of the Year - Celeste Lopez, Tonya Kurtz, Christy Smith, Meghan Kennedy-Brown, Meaghan Wills, Erika Ahrens, and Keith Byrne
Officer of the Year - Matthew DuBois
Manager of the Year - Scott Erickson
Medal of Valor - Scott Erickson
Jackie Renniger Community Policing Award - Kathy Underwood
Lifesaving Medal - Lee Phelps, Jarrett Mahoney, and Carl Lundquist
Outstanding Police Service Medal - Kim Horn and Elias Joven
