On 04/07/2012, about 1:11 pm the Juneau Police Department received a report of a two-vehicle accident at the McNugget Intersection. Officers responded and investigated.
It was determined a 2011 Subaru was travelling inbound Egan drive and failed to stop at a steady red light. The Subaru was driven by 73-year-old Roland LUCERO, a local resident. A 2000 Toyota was pulling out from Glacier Highway to turn toward the outbound lanes of Egan Drive. The Toyota was driven by a 16-year-old female and local resident. The Subaru struck the drivers side door of the Toyota causing a total of $10,000 dollars damage to both vehicles. Neither driver was injured in the accident.
Both vehicles were privately towed from the scene. Egan Drive on both inbound and outbound lanes was completely shut down for approximately 15 minutes. Partial traffic flow was restored after that. Egan Drive was open to full traffic flow within 45 minutes.
LUCERO was issued a citation for failing to stop at a steady red light.
