Subject: Motor Vehicle Crash

Summary:

On Jan. 9, 2012, at 12:19pm the Juneau Police Department received a report of a single vehicle rollover accident on Glacier Hwy by the Pioneers Home. On officers arrival, CCFR was already on scene. The female driver, an 18 year old Sitka resident and only occupant of the crashed vehicle was out of the vehicle and suffered no injuries.

Tire trackes in the roadway indicated the vehicle was traveling on Glacier Hwy outbound and came over the hill by the Pioneer Home at a speed to fast for the icy road conditions. The driver lost control, her vehicle went over the curb on the inbound lane and slid down the embankment rolling on to it's top when it hit the muddy bottom.

The vehicle was pulled to the road by Excel Towing and privately towed from the scene. The vehicle sustained approximately $2000 to $3000 worth of damage to the passenger side and roof.

The driver was was cited for Basic Speed and Glacier Hwy remained open during this incident.
