Officers of the Juneau Police Department have arrested 29 year old Juneau resident Joseph A. Allen. Allen is a person of interest in the incidents from December 26, 2011. Allen has been lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center on charges stemming from unrelated crimes. Allen is charged with one count of Burglary in the 1st degree, a class B felony punishable by a fine up to $100,000 and a maximum of ten years incarceration. Allen is also lodged on one count of Theft in the 2nd degree, a class C felony punishable by a fine of up to $50,000 and up to five years incarceration.
The investigation is continuing.

On December 26, 2011, at 12:00pm the Juneau Police Department received a call from a woman in the 8000 block of Thunder Street reporting that a man armed with a rifle came into her house pushed her on the floor and pointed the gun at her. The woman was able to run out of the house to a neighbor and call police. While police were responding the witnesses saw the man get into the woman?s car and leave. When she was able to get back into the house she also discovered that her purse was gone.
At 4:12pm, the Juneau Police Department received a report of a burglary in progress in the 4500 block of Wood Duck Avenue. A woman had returned home and found a man in the house. She ran out of the house and called police. When police arrived they found a chair pushed up against a back window. The window screen had been removed. The house had been rifled through and a handgun was missing. Items from the house on Thunder Street were located inside and the stolen vehicle was located on the street.
At 8:30pm, a man called stating that he had gone into his garage in the 4400 block of Columbia Boulevard and found a man sleeping there. He went back into the house and called police. When police arrived the man was gone.
Police believe that all of these cases are related. The man was wearing a black hoodie, black pants, snow boots, and a black mask. He is described as looking about 20-30 years old, Native or Philippino, 6 feet tall with very short black hair. He may also have a mustache. This man is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him do not contact him and call police immediately.
