Officers of the Juneau Police Department have arrested 35 year old Kenneth Edward Nalan of Juneau for assault in the 2nd degree in connection with this incident. Assault in the 2nd degree is a class B felony punishable by up to ten years incarceration and $100,000 fine. The victim is 33 year old John Nicholas Duran. Duran is in stable condition in a Seattle hospital.
The investigation is continuing.

On Tuesday, December 20th, 2011, at 10:39pm, the Juneau Police Department responded to a report of a man shot at a Mendenhall Valley home. Officers arrived to find a 33 year old Juneau man with a gunshot wound to the face. CCF/R responded and transported the man to Bartlett Regional Hospital. He was ultimately medically evacuated to Seattle.
Alcohol was involved in the incident.
The investigation is continuing.
