On December 4, 2011, the Juneau Police Department received a call from a woman who reported seeing three (3) boys vandalizing the bleachers at Melvin Park on 4000 Riverside Drive. She reported that the boys were applying spray paint to the bleachers and then lighting the paint on fire. While CCF/R personnel were responding they saw three (3) boys matching the description given by the witness and reported that information to police. Responding officers were able to locate the boys and question them.
The boys are all Juneau residents and are 12, 13 and 15 years old. They caused $400 damage to the bleachers.
All three boys were charged with Criminal Mischief in the 4th degree and Criminal Negligent Burning. Charges were forwarded to the Johnson Youth Center.
