Subject: Vehicle Theft, Fail to Stop, Assault

Summary:

On 11-26-11, at about 0212 hours, JPD received a report from a resident of Amalga Street that vehicle?s in their driveway had been entered and rifled. Officers responded to the area and discovered several other vehicle?s in the surrounding area appeared to have been entered.

While investigating the vehicle rifling, an officer on foot attempted to conduct a traffic stop of a suspicious vehicle that was leaving the area. The vehicle drove toward and past the officer without stopping placing the officer in fear of being struck by the vehicle. Another officer in a patrol car attempted to stop the suspicious vehicle on a nearby street. The driver of the suspicious vehicle exited the vehicle and ran from the officer. After a brief foot chase, 20 year old Juneau resident Koby BLAKE was arrested. BLAKE was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center without bail on felony charges of Vehicle Theft in the First Degree, Assault in the Third Degree, and Fail to Stop at the Direction of a Peace Officer in the 1st Degree. BLAKE was additionally charged with misdemeanor counts of Fail to Stop at the Direction of a Peace Officer 2nd Degree and Driving While License Revoked.
