On 11/22/2011, at approximately 2:43 PM, the Juneau Police Department received multiple 911 reports of a possible suicidal subject attempting to jump off the 8th floor of the State Office Building. Juneau police officers arrived and contacted a 38 year old male on the 8th floor atrium. The male had climbed over the guard rail facing Willoughby Avenue and was standing on the outside ledge.
Officers spoke with the male and he agreed to climb back over the guard rail. The male told officers that he was not suicidal. The male said that as a kid he use to stand on the ledge to entertain tourists.
The male was extremely intoxicated and was taken into protective custody. The male was transported to the Bartlett Regional Hospital for evaluation.
