This morning at 10:30am, a caller reported a motor-vehicle accident on Egan Drive at the Fred Meyer intersection. Responding officers found two vehicles involved: a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser and a 2003 Dodge Durango. Investigation revealed the PT Cruiser was turning left from Egan Drive onto Yandukin Drive, when it was struck by the Durango. The Durango had been traveling inbound on Egan, through the intersection.
The driver of the PT Cruiser, identified as 78 year-old local resident William HOPKINS, was cited for failing to yield when turning left. He was transported to the Bartlett Regional Hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.
Traffic on the inbound lanes of Egan Drive was diverted onto Glacier Highway for about twenty minutes while the roadway was cleared. Both of the vehicles appeared to be totaled.
