This morning at 7:58am, the Juneau Police Department received a report of a motor vehicle accident on Egan Drive, at the Fred Meyer intersection. Responding officers found two involved vehicles, including a 1997 Ford Explorer, and a 2006 Subaru Forester. Traffic on Egan Drive outbound was reduced to one lane for about 20 minutes.
Investigation revealed 47 year-old local resident Delphine Fano-Ia was driving inbound on Egan, attempting a left turn across the outbound lanes to the Fred Meyer access, when her vehicle was struck by the Subaru, driven by 33 year-old local resident Vanessa Stevenson. Both vehicles were totaled, and Stevenson was transported to the Bartlett Regional Hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.
Fano-Ia was cited for Failing to Yield While Turning Left.
