This morning at 7:26am, the Juneau Police Department received a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian in the area of Glacier Highway, near Davis Avenue. Officers responding found a woman lying on the roadway, who had been struck by a vehicle. The vehicle was described as a 1995 Jeep Wrangler, driven by a 34 year-old male, a local resident. The female was identified as a 62 year-old female, also a local resident.
Investigation revealed the Jeep struck the female as she ran across Glacier Highway from the Davis Avenue side. The investigation into this case is continuing. The woman?s injuries are believed to be serious. She was transported by ambulance to the Bartlett Regional Hospital for treatment.
JPD would like to remind drivers to make sure all of their vehicle?s windows are clear before driving them in the morning. Also, pedestrians are encouraged to wear light-colored clothing as the daylight hours decrease.
