INFORMATION RELEASE

Subject: Motor Vehicle Accident with Injury
Date: 2011-11-02
From: Juneau Police Department
Case or Incident: #111102-004
Summary:

This morning at 8:15am the Juneau Police Department received a report of a single-vehicle accident on Glacier Highway in the vicinity of Lena Loop Road. Responding officers found a heavily damaged 1990 Toyota 4-Runner which had left the roadway as it traveled inbound on Glacier Highway. Speed and icy road conditions appeared to have been a factor in the accident.

Capital City Fire and Rescue responded and assisted the driver of the Toyota, identified as 29 year-old local resident Matthew Armstrong. He was transported to the Bartlett Regional Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He was later cited for Careless Driving.

JPD responded to several other damage-only accidents during the morning, and would like to remind drivers to slow down on the icy roads. Give yourself extra time to get to your destination, put extra distance between yourself and the vehicle in front of you, and make sure your windshield and other windows are clear before getting into your car to drive.

All factual allegations contained in this release are based upon preliminary investigation and are subject to change or clarification as the investigation continues. Any charges reported in this release are merely accusations and all persons named in this release are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
