INFORMATION RELEASE

Subject: Motor Vehicle Collision
Date: 2011-10-11
From: Terry Allen
Case or Incident: #111010-002
Summary:

On 10-10-11, at 8:45 am, The Juneau Police Department received a call of a motor vehicle collision between and car and a bicycle at the intersection of Tongass Blvd and Gail Ave. Police and Capital City Fire and Rescue responded.

An investigation determined the bicycle, operated by 26 year old Rachel TRAPP, was traveling on Tongass and did not stop for the stop sign at Gail. The driver of a 1994 Subaru, 18 year old Hannah GORE, was traveling on Gail and was making a right hand turn onto Tongass without stopping for the stop sign at Tongass. The Subaru knocked TRAPP from her bike and then ran over the bike, totaling the bike.

TRAPP was transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital by Capital City Fire and Rescue for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Both TRAPP and GORE were cited for failing to stop for a stop sign. Alcohol was not a factor.

All factual allegations contained in this release are based upon preliminary investigation and are subject to change or clarification as the investigation continues. Any charges reported in this release are merely accusations and all persons named in this release are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
