Date: 2011-08-03
From: Juneau Police Department
Case or Incident: #110730-007
On 7-30-11, at about 0245 hours, the Juneau Police Department took a report from a woman who said her 18 year old daughter had been abducted by three men, one of whom threatened her with a knife. The 18 year old also reported she was put into a car, taken to an unknown location and sexually assaulted by one of the men. The investigation showed that the abduction was unlikely to have happened. On 8-2-11, the alleged victim admitted to a JPD detective that she made up the account of both the abduction and sexual assault because she was upset over personal and relationship issues. This investigation has been closed.
All factual allegations contained in this release are based upon preliminary investigation and are subject to change or clarification as the investigation continues.
